I Feel Empty / Jesus, Fill My Cup

John 7:37-38

On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as the scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'"

Often times when we are not satisfied with life, I believe it's because we are spiritually thirsty. Jesus is the only one who can fill that hole in your heart you've been searching to fill.

Enthrone Him in your heart, and life and abundance will flow out. Not only blessing yourself, but blessing those around you.

Psalm 42:1-3

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

Psalm 63-1

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

We live in a culture of self sufficiency, but we all have an eternal ache to know the love of God whether we realize it or not.

We are created for more than just to live a "good life". We are created to have a relationship with our Father in Heaven who loves us unconditionally.

Psalm 63:4-5 & 8

I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.

When we worship God fully surrendered and without reservation He fills our souls with His love that leaves us with a sense of deep satisfaction.

"There is in the love of God a richness, magnificence, a fulness of soul-filling joy, comparable to the richest food with which the body can be nourished." -Blue Letter Bible (Spurgeon)

Isaiah 55:2

"Why do you spend money on what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satsify? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance.

John 6:35

Jesus replied, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."

Here is a hard truth; no amount of money, success, or status will fully satisfy you. Finding your "soulmate", or having the perfect family won't complete you. The career, the car, the night out, the one night stands, the amount of likes you get on instagram; none of it will satisfy, fill, or complete you like Jesus Christ can.

His love is unconditional, His peace beyond understanding, His character like no other, and His very existence a beautiful mystery. Why do we put our time and energy into such superficial things when we can use it to have a relationship with the most magnificant God?

Psalm 4:7

You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.

Matthew 5:6

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

Psalm 107:9

For He satisfies the longing soul, and the Hungry soul he fills with good things.
